I studied with Teresa my sophomore through senior year of high school and over the past four years since I graduated from college. From day one, I was amazed by how Teresa tailored my vocal education to what interested me while simultaneously steering me toward repertoire that would help to develop my voice in a healthy and productive way. Since moving her studio temporarily online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have experienced no loss of quality in our lessons, a true testament to Teresa’s skill and dedication to her students.

Not only have I developed a strong foundation in vocal technique and musicality, but I have also gained valuable insight into the professional singing world, the confidence to ask questions and advocate for myself in professional and academic settings, and a lifelong mentor whom I can truly call a friend. I've been working with Teresa since October 2018 and I couldn't be more pleased! My voice continues to improve and grow because of Teresa's guidance, and that's no mean feat for a singer in her 50s! I perform classical music such as art songs and opera arias, but she is comfortable teaching other genres as well. Teresa is kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable, and those characteristics are evident in every lesson. If you're looking for a voice teacher, I highly recommend Teresa!

As a vocal coach and pianist, I have worked with and seen the profound impact of Teresa's teaching. She consistently provides the firm vocal grounding needed along with that sense of safety which promotes artistic growth in each student. As a college admissions consultant with a unique niche - vocal music, and I have worked with Teresa’s students for several years. Teresa is exactly the kind of voice teacher I would seek out for my own children, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Teresa has the background in vocal pedagogy to know how to teach vocal technique to developing voices of all ages. She is so kind and caring, and is just the right mix of gentle nurturing and firm encouragement. Teresa has chosen to teach voice full-time, and she runs a complete voice studio. In addition to lessons, she offers other opportunities to perform by hosting studio classes, master classes with guest teachers, and involves students in competitions when they are ready. This comprehensive platform allows singers to gain confidence and present their pieces with added understanding and stage presence.

When I work with Teresa’s students, they are very well prepared musically and intellectually. When I film their video prescreens, her singers arrive with well-rounded, memorized repertoire in English, Italian, German and sometimes French. They are confident singers and their diction is always very clear. I can see in their delivery that they are engaged and understand the story they are singing. They have been well prepared!

Because of her articulate and caring instruction, Teresa’s students have done exceptionally well in college auditions and admissions, and are singing at top colleges and graduate schools across the country. I most heartily endorse Teresa as an exceptional teacher and person!

My daughter started working with Teresa in June 2019.  The progress she has made over the last 16 months has been incredible!!  Teresa has been so amazing to work with.  Her professional, yet relaxed approach to her teaching is a perfect fit for my daughter.  She always looks forward to her lessons and new challenges that Teresa presents to her.  Teresa has already introduced my daughter to several new experiences in her musical journey and will be a great resource going forward as we start to look at colleges.  We highly recommend Teresa for a voice coach!   She is warm, friendly and very talented herself!   

Teresa Tierney will always hold a special place in my heart because she is not only an intelligent, kind, beautiful, and talented woman, she is also a GREAT teacher. What makes a great teacher? Well, Teresa was able to prepare me for many challenges I would not only face in my opera career, but life lessons I would be reminded of each day. As I begin my second semester of college this year I am so thankful for the skills Teresa instilled in me during my high school years such as, practicing habits, technical awareness, diction, translation of text, emotional connection to music, and more. I was blessed to work with Teresa who cares so much about me as a person, and continues to be a part of my life as I begin my second year of college! We still have coffee dates! Teresa gave me a foundation that has given me a head start in my college opera career. I feel confident in what I know and what I need to learn in order to reach my goals.
